If you are passionate about the magic of Christmas, Christmas in Vigo, Spain, is an experience that goes beyond what you can imagine. Vigo is one of the most illuminated cities in the world during this time of year, captivating visitors with its streets full of lights, colors, stunning decorations, and an atmosphere that turns every corner into a real movie scene. At the heart of this magical celebration is the Christmas Market, an unmissable destination for visitors of all ages.

We left Portugal, from the city of Braga, and crossed the border into Spain. The journey took about an hour. We drove, but there are other options to get to the city: by train, plane, or by bus with FlixBus.

Lights, many colors, and Christmas decorations spread throughout the city of Vigo. We walked through the streets of the city center until we reached the giant Christmas tree at Puerta del Sol. We took a little train, paying 5 € for the ride. The Christmas Market has several entrances, but we parked the car in the underground parking lot near Praza de Compostela. Tip: Arrive before sunset to see the lights turn on and to find a parking spot, which is highly competitive on weekends.

We climbed up and down several streets until we reached the main attraction, which is the Christmas tree. There are sections where you can take the escalator.

The Christmas Market in Vigo is easily accessible, located in the city center. It offers a variety of stalls that combine local crafts, traditional treats, and unique gifts. It’s the perfect place to find that special gift for a loved one or to indulge in traditional sweets: churros with hot chocolate and even more elaborate dishes.
